Velvet Celebrating National Ice Cream Month with Fresh-Off-The-Line Ice Cream Giveaway
Utica, Ohio (July 8, 2011) – If it was any fresher, it would still be in the cow.
Velvet Ice Cream is giving away free, fresh-off-the-line samples of its ice cream in July in recognition of National Ice Cream Month.
Velvet is offering the samples at its viewing gallery from 1-3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Visitors will receive fresh ice cream samples of the flavor Velvet is manufacturing that day.
"We tried this last year as a way to recognize National Ice Cream Month and it was wildly successful," said Velvet vice-president Andre Dager. "Ever since I was little, my favorite snack has been ice cream right off the Velvet line. It's so delicious and we wanted our guests to be able to have that same experience."
Velvet offers weekday tours of its Utica factory from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Frommers, a travel and vacation publication, recently named Velvet one of America's 10 best ice cream factory tours.
Velve's Ye Olde Mill will feature the Firecracker Sundae in honor of Independence Day. The Firecracker Sundae, which will be available throughout July in the Ye Olde' Mill parlor, features two scoops of vanilla ice cream with strawberry and raspberry toppings.
Headquartered at Ye Olde' Mill in Utica, Ohio, Velvet Ice Cream has been a family owned and operated business for nearly 100 years. Founded in 1914 by family patriarch Joseph Dager, Velvet has been run by four generations of the Dager family. Each year, Velvet produces more than five million gallons of ice cream, which can be found in freezer cases throughout the Midwest. The historic Ye Olde' Mill, which houses the company headquarters, an ice cream museum and restaurant, attracts more than 150,000 visitors a year.
