Direct Store Delivery System

In the early 1900’s, Velvet Ice Cream distributed its products throughout Central Ohio using just a couple trucks cooled with ice blocks.
Today, our distribution network consists of 50+ trucks driving thousands of miles each day delivering products direct to stores in five states.
Direct store delivery (DSD) is a distribution network of trucks and associates that move products from the vendor’s warehouse, route trucks, and stores, controlling the end-to-end process without using a retailer’s distribution network.
DSD is a robust but flexible model that allows us to service stores based upon sales volume and make deliveries based upon replenishment needs.
The presell representative builds the relationship directly with the store decision maker to maximize every selling opportunity.
The warehouse picks product by order and delivery date sequenced by stop maximizing a pre-planned route.
